There are important people in your work and personal life and there are people who are not as important to you. You can proactively choose where to spend your time and energy. At the end of the day you are in control of how you spend your time and whom you spend it with. For work there is value in creating “People Maps” where you lay out the influential and impactful people to and from you. This can be a helpful tool in helping decide where and with whom to focus your energy.
